At Aussie Road Train, we are pleased to bring the country a new and entertaining way of looking at Transport in Australia… through the eyes of a truckie…. as they travel along the highways and roads from one side of the country to the other delivering the needs of all.
Aussie Road Train has worked hard to develop the game – LINEHAULER – A Board Game that is focused on what life is like for those on the road. It also encompasses many aspects of the industry.
Remember how good it used to be when you could get together with friends or family and challenge one another and have good hearted fun. Through LINEHAULER we’d like to offer you an opportunity to continue this experience.
SO WHAT IS LINEHAULER?
“LINEHAULER” is a tabletop board game based on the Road Transport Industry – primarily Linehaul and is an all round entertaining family game with a transport theme, for 4 – 6 players.
The Concept of the game is – To transport freight and goods for payment, throughout Australia whilst facing the everyday challenges, experienced by Truckies. The end aim is to become Linehauler Champion.
Players begin with a Rigid Truck and throughout the game, build their fleet to a Semi, then a B Double and finally a Road Train. Players work their way across Australia delivering goods via Manifest, for payment.
Each journey is different as Manifest cards have varied loads and requirements such as Permits for Dangerous Goods or Wide Loads. Special requirements like Pilot or Escort needed or the challenging Express Delivery. Local deliveries can slow you down, whilst Sea Port or Airport come with extra fees.
Note: – “Linehauler” is not just a game of chance, although luck comes into it like most games. Linehauler requires a certain amount of planning or strategy to work out your best route to your destination, taking into account your manifest loads and their restrictions to be able to make your deliveries.
If this isn’t enough, you also face the challenge of the board icons that can be a help or a hindrance in your aim to complete your tasks.
Free Upgrade or Dealer icons are a help but the Mandatory Log Stop or Weight and Log checks can be challenging as is the Road works, Fire, Flood or Detour icons. Planning is required to avoid Narrow bridges or Tunnels along with the Cattle Tick or Fruit Fly
Luck comes into the game by way of the roll of the dice, along with the favourability of the Payday and 5th Wheel cards. The variety of board icons also allows players to encounter numerous obstacles or opportunities that add excitement to the game.
The game wouldn’t be complete without the opportunity to earn a sideline income from Properties such as Fuel, Food, Tyre Repair or Mechanical Repair.
